Happy Tails!

Meet some of our lucky alumni! With the help of Valley Dog Rescue of Texas, these wonderful dogs have found their forever homes where they will be safe and loved for the rest of their lives.

Jack & Jemma

“You can tell they truly are best friends and love having their own bed or couch or chair to sleep on. They just appreciate being loved and spoiled rotten. They know they always get my last few bites of food and will wait their turn. They sit for treats when they come to get their feet cleaned and massaged! I know, we aren’t normal!!”

Tashi

“I have the most incredibly sweet and personality-filled action buddy, thanks to Valley Dog Rescue. I have known for a couple years that I wanted a dog, and would look at rescue sites but the process to get a dog was burdensome and frustrating.  I would contact the X,Y,Z rescue agency  and either have silence, or be told that the dog was no longer available etc…  From the first minute that I contacted Carol and Leah it was a whole different experience. We immediately FaceTimed so I could ‘meet’ my chosen doggy.  Even though I couldn’t meet her, at least I got more than a photo. Then it was daily contact on what she was like, what she needed fixing (chewing!), how active she was, etc….  They gave advice on how to help her acclimatize, what she eats, etc. They went above and beyond to make this happen, when my local rescue agency that had connected me with them, fell apart financially and could no longer help with the adoption.  They are totally here for the dogs and the owners and will go the extra million miles to make both happy. They are THE BEST!!”

Barley

Valley Dog Rescue of Texas gave me the love of my life, “Barley”. Barley is by far the most impressive animal known to me. He’s not just a dog, but my son. He’s adored by all and returns his submissive love towards all those who approach him whether they have 2 legs or 4! Thanks for rescuing me, Valley Dog Rescue of Texas, by saving this animals life and changing mine.”

First Came ALBY, then along came ARIZONA

“I would like to commend Valley Dog Rescue for the amazing work they do.  I had the experience of fostering then adopting two amazing dogs over the past year.  I lost my husband in March of 2021, and I wanted to adopt a puppy as a companion.  I was blessed with crossing paths with VDR around Christmas of 2022.  They had just rescued a few litters of puppies.  I was able to stop by and see the babies and one in particular came up to me.  I knew it had to be fate.  It was a little boy with a spot resembling a heart on his left side. (my husband was left-handed) I named him Alby in honor of my husband, and I was able to foster him before the New Year then adopt him a few months later.

As Alby continued to grow, he became more rambunctious, and I felt that he needed a companion to play with.  I reached back out to the amazing group of women and VDR and was introduced to another sweet well behaved young lady. I named her Arizona (that is where my husband is from) Alby and Arizona made a great match.  They started playing the moment they met.

I truly appreciate and admire the ladies at VDR, especially Carol and Leah.  I wasn’t just introduced to my new fur babies; I was also introduced to two amazing people I truly respect.”

Pippa - Happy Tails

Pippa

“Valley Dog Rescue of Texas holds a very special place in my heart. Even though I didn’t adopt my sweet Pippa directly from them, she is living proof of the love, compassion, and devotion they give to every single animal they rescue. I adopted Pippa from a shelter in Oregon, and tucked into her paperwork was a handwritten note from a little girl who had fostered her. That note told the story of how deeply she loved Pippa, how she cared for her, and how hard it was to say goodbye.

Something told me to reach out to the number she included. That one small act turned into a beautiful, lasting connection. Nearly two years later, I still talk regularly with both her and her mom. That kind of bond doesn’t happen by accident — it happens because Valley Dog Rescue of Texas raises their animals with love, empathy, and heart. They don’t just save dogs; they pour pieces of themselves into them.

Every single day, Pippa reminds me of the chain of kindness that brought her to me — from Texas, to foster care, to Oregon, and finally home. Valley Dog Rescue of Texas may not have handed me her leash, but they shaped the soul of the dog I am lucky enough to love. Their work reaches farther than they may ever realize, and I will be forever grateful for the lives they touch, including mine. “

Raven

Adopting Raven from Valley Dog Rescue of Texas changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. The moment I met her, I knew she was special—but I had no idea just how much she would end up saving me. During a time when I was struggling with serious health issues, Raven seemed to instinctively understand. She stayed close, offered comfort, and gave me a sense of peace I didn’t even know I needed. It was as if she was born to be my support.

Years later, she continues to amaze me. I began fostering kittens, and Raven has become the most gentle, loving mama to every single one of them. Watching her nurture and protect these tiny lives is a daily reminder of how incredible rescue dogs truly are.

I truly cannot imagine my life without Raven. She is my heart, my comfort, and my constant. I will be forever grateful to Valley Dog Rescue of Texas for rescuing her—and in the process, rescuing me too.”

Papa

“Papa is a wonderful addition to our family and truly the best boy!! With my mom retired and me working from home, we’re grateful to spend so much time with him each day. He’s our fur baby, my coworker, our entertainment, and (let’s be honest) our boss. Funny, smart, and extra sassy, he has that classic schnauzer personality we’ve always loved.

He’s completely taken center stage in our lives, and we wouldn’t have it any other way. We’re incredibly thankful to Valley Dog Rescue for saving our little man. We truly can’t imagine life without him!!”

Henry’s new story is coming soon, stay tuned!

Beaux

Beaux

“Beaux has been the sweetest and most friendly boy. You can tell everyone at Valley Dog Rescue of Texas has a true passion for caring for their animals. Carol and Leah have been so helpful every step of the way.

Beaux loves going to school and meeting new friends. He enjoys car rides, and he’s always on the go! He wants all the attention and all the cuddles. He is a fluffy ball of energy! Beaux loves playing fetch and rolling around in the grass. He is so smart and loves to learn new tricks! He is the friendliest boy. He has even made friends with the neighbor and loves to chase their chickens around their yard.

Finding Valley Dog Rescue of Texas and Beaux has been the biggest blessing. That fluffy face and warm cuddles make every hard day better. Beaux is truly our bestie and we are so grateful to have him in our lives. He never fails to put a smile on peoples faces, and nobody can resist petting his fluffy little head!”

Fergie

Fergie truly is an extra special dog and we are all enamored with her but especially the kids. She is not like anything we were looking at to begin with (small fluffy floppy) but is exactly what we all needed. She has all the characteristics I was looking for, for our family, just in a different (and way cooler) package. I’m so glad we found her and that we are the family Valley Dog Rescue entrusted to share her with!

The expertise and experience of Carol, Leah, their families (and dog packs), and the rest of the team have shaped Fergie into the animal she is today and set her up for success in becoming so adoptable and just an amazing companion. Her chapter of life with them is so unique and an integral part of her story, which will never be forgotten. Any animal that makes it into their care is truly fortunate and has the best chance at beginning to become the best versions of themselves for future adopters.

The week before Christmas, our super special sweet baby puppy passed away unexpectedly during his neuter surgery (so devastating for our family). We decided the best way to honor his life was to open our hearts and home with another rescue pup in need. Unknowingly, the day we welcomed Fergie to our family was ironically also the day our little Mickey Mouse would have celebrated his first birthday. We realized it that night so we went out and bought some giant dog biscuits, our 3year old decorated them, and the older kids decorated Mickey’s old crate (while Fergie supervised), then we sang happy birthday.

Fergie has been such a blessing, so loving, affectionate, polite, well behaved, and just so special in the bonds she has built with each one of us in the short amount of time we have spent together. She adjusted right away and fit in with our family and pups like she had always been there. We are so thankful to be a part of Fergie’s story and to VDR for everything they did to bring us together!”

Harry

Harry

“After 14 years, our beloved family dog passed away, and our home felt incomplete. When we turned to Valley Dog Rescue, we were met with kindness and care every step of the way. From start to finish, the process was thoughtful, supportive, and centered on the well-being of each dog.

The team clearly loves what they do, offering wonderful guidance as we prepared to welcome a new companion into our home. When we brought Harry home, he instantly became part of our family. He is full of snuggles, kisses, and playful joy.

Thank you, Valley Dog Rescue, for helping make our family whole again!”
